Grind-and-Seal vs Full Mechanical Polish

• → Full mechanical polish — the slab is ground and honed through multiple diamond grits, then densified so the concrete itself becomes hard and reflective. There is no topical coating, so there is nothing to peel and the floor keeps its look for decades with minimal upkeep.
• → Grind-and-seal — the slab is ground to expose the aggregate you want, then a clear topical sealer is rolled on to lock in the look. It costs less and goes down faster, and it is a good fit where the existing slab is not ideal for a full mechanical polish.

Our Process — From Quote to Clean-Up

• → Site visit and assessment — we inspect the slab, grind a small test patch where it helps, and check the concrete's hardness, flatness and aggregate so we know what finish it can realistically take.
• → Written fixed quote — you get an itemised quote in writing covering grind, hone and polish stages, the agreed gloss level and stone exposure, any crack or chip repair, and densifying and sealing.
• → Booking and scheduling — we lock in a date that suits you. Polishing is a dust-managed indoor process, but we still plan around the CQ wet season and humidity, which affect densifier and sealer cure, and around your build program or trading hours.
• → Service-specific prep — we clear and protect the area, mask off walls and fixtures, set up dust extraction on the grinders, and repair any cracks or chips so the floor is sound before the first cut.
• → The work day — we grind through progressively finer diamond pads, honing the surface in stages, then apply densifier to harden the concrete and polish up to the agreed sheen.
• → Finishing — we refine the edges and corners by hand so the polish runs right up to the walls, then check the floor under light for consistency across the whole slab.
• → Curing and aftercare — the densifier and sealer need time to cure before heavy traffic; we tell you how long to stay off it and leave simple dust-mop and damp-mop care advice to keep the finish sharp.
• → Final clean-up — we remove masking, vacuum down the dust, take our gear away and hand back a clean, finished floor ready to use.
